This is the original Constitution of The Woman's Club of Palo Alto which was adopted June 20th, 1894.

Article I - Name.
This association shall be called The Woman's Club of Palo Alto.

Article II - Object.
The objects of this Association shall be self-improvement, mutual help and community work.

Article III
Section 1. To carry out these objects the club shall be divided into five departments, namely: home and household economics, education and science, philanthophy (sic). art and literature.
Section 2. Each of these four departments shall be in charge of a committee which shall be responsible for the work and the program of its meetings.

Article IV - Officers.
Section 1. The officers of this Club shall be a President, Vice-President and Secretary, who shall be elected by ballot each year at the annual meeting.
Section 2. In addtion to the usual duties of the above named officers, they shall have power to choose the chairmen of the different departments.
Section 3. The President, Vice-President and Secretary and the chairmen of the departments shall compose the Board of Managers of the Club.
Section 4. The Board of Managers shall conduct all business of the club, shall fill vacancies occurring in its own body, and shall appoint all special and standing committees.

Article V - Membership.
Section 1. Any woman who is a resident of Palo Alto and vicinity may become a member by signing its consitituion and promising to promote its objects.
Section 2. Each person shall pay an admission fee of $2.00 on entering the Club, and an annual due of $1.00 payable before January 1st. (Carried)
Section 3. Any who has been absent from the Club for one year may be re-instated by the payment of current dues.  (Carried)

Article VI - Meetings.
Section 1. There shall be an anual meeting of the club on the first Wednesday in September of each year, to hear reports of the work of the past year, and to elect officers for the ensuing year; and the newly elected officers shall enter upon their duties on the third Wednesday of the same month.
Section 2. The regular meeting of the club shall be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month and shall be provided for by the chairman of the different departments in the order in which they are named in Article III.

Article VII - Quorums
Section 1. Twenty members of the club shall constitute a quorum for the election of officers, and for the amendment of the constitution. A majority vote shall be required for both these purposes.
Section 2.  A majority of the Board of Managers shall constitute a Board quorum for all business except filling vacancies which shall not be done in the absence of more than one member of the Board.

Article VIII
This constitution may be amended at any time by a majority vote of the club quorum, provided due and satisfactory notice of such Amendment be given at least two weeks beforehand.

Amend Article III  Section 1 adding "Village Improvement" to the list of Departments. Carried.

Also further amend Article V by adding Section 3      
"Any who has been absent from the Club for one year may be re-instated by payment of current dues."
Carried.

Amend Article V Section 2  by substituting    
"Each person shall pay an admission fee of $2.00 on entering the club, and an annual due (sic) of $1.00 payable before January 1st."
Carried.
